There are many finishes available, which are a personal choice. From natural, where the timber is just oiled and waxed, through the range of stains in light, medium to dark or even very dark finish, which is almost black.

Here is a selection of each of those finishes to help you decide your colour preference (these colours are a guide only). Slight colour variations may occur, depending on timber used.

Staining is a just the first step in the week-long finishing process, which involves oiling, several coats of shellac, sanding between each stage, finishing with a coat of wax, and buffed.
